Last Two Weeks in Naples 2014

The Rookery - A wildlife preserve with walking trails
and launch area for boats and other floating things.  The question is:
"Should we be kayaking in inflatable kayaks in these waters?"

We walk the boardwalk in this wildlife haven and with the help
of a very informed woman we discover at the lookout, spot more
creatures than we may have seen without her presence.

Fun to watch this Great White Egret eating a fish.  Not so
much fun for the fish!

On another of our daily walks, we spot a Wood Stork pair,
which until now, has been rare

Most unusual colouring on this cricket

The Wood Stork stir up their food from the bottom
of the channel, by stomping their feet

Whoa!  Big mouth; bigger voice!

Entrance to our resort

Another pair of Wood Storks.  More than we've seen at close
proximity, since the Shark Valley visit.  He nagged at her
the entire time we observed them :)

These pretty little things enjoyed the sprinkler in
the newly planted garden beside our patio

Lunch with Art and Thelma at Barcelona, Old Naples.
Yummy, yummy food!

A breezy walk to the end of Naples Pier.  Art and me, with
longer hair than Thelma and Bob, concentrated on
keeping our wigs on.

Thelma provided me with this beautiful scene from their
home on the golf course.  I believe it was a sunrise shot.
Thelma sent us these photo's of their lovely home, after we
returned to Toronto.  A beautiful place.  Thank you Thelma!

What the heck?  Where are we???

Banana tree across from our RV site.

Our new friend Alicia (from the Everglades swamp walk)
also sent this photo after we returned.  This was taken in
Florida in March and she is now headed to Yellowstone
to be a visitors volunteer in the park.  She will be visiting
us in September on her way back through Ontario and home
to the eastern U.S.

Another daily walk wildlife experience.

One of our fave haunts...watching fisher-people by the
Marco Island bridge

These young men came along with their casting nets
to capture some bait for evening fishing

This little crab put up a good fight, pinching one of the men.
He still ended up as bait however.

Back to the Rookery boardwalk for a final visit before we
leave Florida

The photo of the resident Bald Eagle, was taken with
my telephoto lense, so it's not that great.  This just might
be the fellow that flew low over the pool at our resort

Our last swim in the pool.  No one but us!

We lived on Coconut Lane....a very pretty site.

Final visit this season, to Sugden Park where we had many lunches
and kayaking fun

Lots of activity on the lake that day

Dinner at the Riverwalk restaurant.  We declare
their Margarita's to be the best we tasted...and we should know!

Final sunset on Naples beach.  My toes enjoy their last wriggle
in the soft sand.  It may be awhile before they do this in Ontario!

On the way back to Old Naples to pick up the van, we find this
great old beast with several admirers

Another beautiful home just footsteps from the beach

Old Naples magic when the lights come on

Happy, happy people!

An almost new moon

McIntosh Lake campground in Georgia.  Our first night
heading north, and the last flowers we'll see for a bit.

This seems way too easy!  He just has to lay in the
sun and wait.

The only campground open in Virginia.  Lovely
and large camp sites.  Pitch black at night and a great sleep.

We had a fantastic time and have already booked a site in Naples for 2015.  A lovely place, great proximity to all kinds of activities.  Lots more to do and see next year.
