Part 7 - Chobe River

The Chobe riverfront is packed with wildlife!  Virtually every southern African species, except the rhino, is represented here.  We took an afternoon/sunset cruise on a boat that could cruise very close to the shore and were rewarded with more creatures than our eyes or minds could handle.

The Chobe River

Cape Buffalo - the most dangerous
animal in Africa
Even more dangerous than this big fella'

They had a tough time convincing me!

The Cape Buffalo is more dangerous huh?

Hippo's are dangerous too!  They
just look cuter

I'd tell you what it is but all I can
remember is that it's a bird...oh yeah,
it's a Snake Neck Bird

Cattle Egret

..and we all know what this is...

Snake Neck Bird

Did you know that hippo mark their very
large territory by twirling their tail and spreading
their dung like a windmill, both in and
out of the water

We were as fascinated watching this wildlife
photographer at work, as we were......
....watching this snake board her boat

Her guide spotted it and set it free
After she took a couple of pics
Who're you looking at with your mouth open?

Monkeys along the river bank

They look harmless enough

Southern Ground Hornbill

This is what happiness looks like
