Zululand

Dominated by the Zulu tribal group, the region offers a fascinating historical and contemporary insight into one of the country's most enigmatic and best-known cultures, intense poverty and all the social problems that come with it are still commonplace.

Situated around a beautiful indigenous forest and surrounded by green rolling hills, the town of Eshowe (population 14,700) has a rural, rough and tumble atmosphere, but the suburbs are leafy and quiet. (LP

We took a game drive in Hluhluwe/Imfolozi Game Reserve, famous for its contributions to saving the endangered rhino.

Sunset from the restaurant/bar
We spotted this on the wall.  Emma (owner)
said that Les had been there a couple of
months before us, filming disappearing
cultures.  They loved him and his crew.

Crazy cloud!

Dung beetle, working his little heart out.  The ball of dung began to roll
down a slope and we all began to cheer for him.

He hopped on top and rode it all the way
to the bottom, then began to push
it back up the hill.  Amazing little things with
a nasty job!  One of Gods jokes.

Gettin' down in the mudhole
Move over!

The guy on the left of the upper photo is
a bully and was goring the others.  They turned
on him and he eventually left.

Any guess what this is?

Yep, it's the mens urinal.  When the
rest of realized what we were looking at,
we started taking pics.  Bob, of course,
loved every second!

This poor fellow must have had
a nasty battle.

Always lurking somewhere!  No barefoot
paddling in this river.

Lezanne had been pestering Kembo do give us a lion roar and he kept refusing.  On this particular day, after all of us giving him a hard time, he said that he would tell us his favourite lion joke and here he is.

Love the video's and the lion joke.
Too bad Bob in the loo has no eyes. Looks like they are rolled back in his head. He must have enjoyed that wiz.
