Santiago, Chile

Arriving in Santiago in the middle of the day, we had the rest of the day to wander around the main drag, close to our hotel. The city is nestled among mountains and is home to 6 million people. It is very modern with a great subway system, excellent restaurants and shopping.
Two blocks from our hotel we discovered three opera singers performing on the street. They were fabulous! I dropped 'em a fiver....and the street vendors actually place their goods on the sidewalk...
We hopped the subway to visit an artist and artisan centre; easy to get to and a beautiful place. Lots of trees in Santiago (huge contrast to the desert) and this centre was no exception.

Below: Some of the vendors and product "for sale"
..and yes, he's "for sale"...
....and the following is not "for sale"
